Honor Greyhound “Brook’s Honor” Age 10 Her history began on a farm in Florida in the summer of 1999 where she was one of a litter of four born to the Dam “Brook Lady.” Honor along with her liter mates were bred for racing at the dog track. After racing 58 races and wining some, she retired from racing in 2002. Upon her retirement she entered into the adoption program through “Greyhound Pets of America Northwest Chapter.”- (GPA-NW) Here Honor was first placed into a foster home in Portland, Oregon. This opportunity allowed for her to learn all about being a pet, and living in a home versus a kennel. After her short stay in her foster home, and the completion of her vetting, Honor was ready to enter the status of adoptable dogs. In September, 2003 Honor entered into her “forever home” through pet adoption. Her family consists of her Greyhound “Greta Grasshopper”, and, her pet parents Jeremy and Laura Comiskey. A true couch potato Honor loves to move from room to room seeking out any available bed or couch. Greyhounds traditionally have long lives in comparison to other large breeds due to their low percentage of body fat and overall muscle mass. With this said here’s to another ten years of life! Every few months we choose one lucky dog's photo to be featured at our store. All photos are taken by Portland's premier pet photographer: Four Legged Photo. The winner receives a $25 gift certificate to The Hip Hound, their photo displayed in our store for one month, and the final 11" x 14" picture! To qualify, sign up for a photo session at Four Legged Photo or ask at the store for details. |
